Convention News!

I just found out that I’ll be exhibiting at Emerald City ComiCon next year! The show runs March 13th & 14th, 2010, and a list of guests and info can be found at: http://www.emeraldcitycomicon.com/ (I’m listed under ‘Artist Alley’)

At last year’s con, I went as a fan just to check it out, and while waiting in a room for the Battlestar Galactica panel to start, witnessed the How to Make Webcomics panel by the Halfpixel guys. The panel really inspired me, as well as their podcast, book, and website. Now, less than a year later, I’ll be back at the con, this time as an exhibitor! Funny how the world goes full circle like that.

I’ll have more information as the date gets closer, so stay tuned!

Beginning of Issue 2 and Contest Results

Monday’s strip ends Issue 1, and as such, Friday’s will begin issue 2! I’m quite proud of the stuff I have done for issue 2, and I think you will enjoy it as well. The story is about to heat up – both literally and figuratively.

As for the contest, I have now officially chosen a winner: Rena McNeal. Congratulations! Rena guessed 8/9 correctly, and then won the coin toss. Wallpapers, plus Rena’s prize will be distributed soon-ish, once I actually make them.

A Spooky Halloween Contest!

Happy Halloween!

I wanted to do a picture of the full Jimmy and the Hammer cast in costume, but realized much of the cast has yet to be revealed. So consider this image a preview of sorts. Curious who these people are? Keep reading for the next few months to find out!

As for the contest, it’s rather simple! You just have to figure out what everyone is in costume as. One winner (selected at random from all correct entries) will get the following prize package:

  • 1 printed copy of Jimmy and the Hammer issue 1 (once it prints)
  • 1 hand drawn sketch by me (subject of your choosing)
  • Recognition on this site of your awesomeness/nerdiness
  • A Jimmy and the Hammer desktop wallpaper

Every single person who enters, win or lose, gets a desktop wallpaper. Currently, this is the only way to get these bad boys, and I may end up charging for them in the future. So get one now!

Entering is simple: just send an email to evan@jimmyandthehammer.com with the following information:

  1. The word “CONTEST” somewhere in the subject line of the email
  2. Your name
  3. A list of the 9 costumes
  4. Your desktop size (so I send you the right size wallpaper)

One entry per person. All entries must be recieved by midnight Pacific time on November 14th.

New feature – Share it

You will notice that along the right side of the site, there are now links to my various communication tools, as well as a button labelled “Share”.

Now you can, with the click of a button, easily add my content to sites such as digg, stumbleupon and delicious. It also includes links for various social networking sites such as facebook, twitter, and myspace.

If you enjoy a strip, please, feel free to share it with some of the sites listed. It costs you nothing but time, and will help me immensely in bringing in a larger audience.

Happy Monthiversary, jath!

As of today, Jimmy and the Hammer has been in existence an entire month, which may not seem like a lot to some people, but it is to me.

I’m a guy who has tried and failed nanowrimo twice. I’ve been working on writing music for an album for like 5 years now. My cool ideas have a tendency to fizzle out.

But I knew if I could keep this going for a month, I could keep it going for the long haul.

So thanks to you, my 42 unique visitors for helping make this work. I’m excited for the future, and you should be too!

Welcome to JATH!

Greetings, and welcome to the official launch of Jimmy and the Hammer!

For those of you who don’t know, Jimmy and the Hammer is a full-page/full-color webcomic/comic book chronicling the tales of a firefighter/private investigator with a mullet, and a talking monkey who always wears sunglasses. I’ve got a great story planned for these characters, and I hope you’ll enjoy it.

Please be a bit patient with the site, it’s not fully functional yet. The ability to comment on blog posts should be added soon, but in the meantime, you can get a hold of me via email at evan@jimmyandthehammer.com or on twitter @jathevan.

To celebrate the launch of the site, I went to the store to buy a bottle of wine. Hijinks ensued. As a special launch week event, I’ve chronicled these in a series of 4 panel sketch comics which will run here in the blog Tuesday-Friday.
